The Freedom of Information Awareness Training will provide learners with a clear understanding of the Freedom of Information Act (also referred to as FOI) and how it is designed to improve transparency and accountability by enabling access to information held by public authorities and government agencies.

The module covers:

  • the Freedom of Information Act, including basic definitions, practical examples and applications of the Act
  • how to make or handle requests for information
  • the rights of individuals under the Act
  • legal implications of non-compliance
  • overview of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and main regulations
  • risk and health hazards associated with incorrect manual handling
  • the main areas related to workplace safety including manual handling, correct workstations set up, fire safety principles, incident reporting, slips, trips and falls
  • other areas of safety in the workplace such as personal safety, driving and safety in the kitchen or retail environments (if applicable)

This course is aimed at all members of staff whose day-to- day work may involve dealing with information requests.

A certificate will be made available for download immediately on successful completion of the training.
The training should take on average between 30 minutes to an hour depending on the user ability to absorb content.   Users can move at their own pace through all sections and resume automatically where they last left off if needed.
